The outreach program runs every Tuesday and Thursday evening from 5:30 pm - 7 pm
We operate the outreach program in MacCabe Park (Burelli St side), Wollongong every Tuesday and Thursday night between 5:30 pm – 7:00 pm.
The outreach program has been going for over 8 years and was operating under another charity name but ceased operations due to financial difficulties. Kind Hearts Illawarra derived from this and was formed in May 2017.
We provide a friendly environment for those in need to seek assistance. We provide hot meals, drinks, food hampers, hygiene packs, towels, clothes, blankets, or maybe just a cuppa and a friendly chat. We also provide information of the various services that are available for those in need.
We currently are helping 60-100 people at each outreach night we provide. The type of people that seek our help more than likely have mental health issues, drug addictions, poverty, or have been a victim of domestic violence. We have also been told of more recent problems, such as seniors being pushed out of their homes by their children, left homeless and marriage breakups, leaving one of the partners, homeless. These people rely on us to be there for them.
Since Covid-19, we have been providing family hampers to those within our community.
